Specsavers Cork Opera Lane recently extended its commitment to local community welfare by donating a supply of high-visibility vests to two nearby primary schools, North Monastery Primary School and Peig Sayers Primary School, to enhance safety for young pupils.

The initiative aims to provide children with essential safety gear, making them more visible to motorists and pedestrians during school commutes, walks, and outdoor activities, especially as the days grow shorter.

At The North Monastery Primary School, the donation was met with enthusiastic gratitude. Laura O Farrell, the school secretary, expressed her appreciation, stating, “We are absolutely delighted with these. Thank you so much. These will be invaluable for our pupils’ safety.”

Similarly, Peig Sayers Primary School welcomed the safety gear. Kian O Gorman, a dedicated staff member from Specsavers Cork Opera Lane, visited the school to deliver the vests. Teacher Leanne O Driscoll gratefully accepted the donation, remarking, “These high-visibility vests are a very welcome addition to our school’s safety resources. They will be instrumental in protecting our students during their walks and excursions, and we thank Specsavers for their generosity.”

John Morrin, Ophthalmic Director at Specsavers Cork City, commented on the initiative: “We are incredibly proud to support the children and staff of North Monastery Primary School and Peig Sayers Primary School. Safety is paramount, and these Hi-Vis vests are a simple yet effective way to help ensure children are seen and safe when walking to and from school, or on school outings. As a local business, we are committed to playing an active role in our community and looking after the well-being of its youngest members.”

The donation underscores Specsavers Cork Opera Lane’s ongoing dedication to the health and safety of the Cork community, extending beyond eye and hearing care to broader public welfare initiatives.
