At the heart of Specsavers Cork are husband and wife directors, John and Claire Morrin. Their journey with Specsavers began back in 2004 when they met as optometry students, working at Specsavers in Belfast. As local owners, John and Claire are passionate members of the Cork community and want to make sure that everyone who walks through their doors receives personal, high-quality eye and hearing care.
This commitment to local roots and a positive, welcoming environment is further exemplified by Cork native Store Manager Trina Horgan. She has been an integral part of Specsavers Opera Lane since day one, with her dedication and friendly face playing a huge role in the store’s success and growth. Trina is truly a cornerstone of the team.

Over the years, the store has continually invested in cutting edge technology to provide the best possible care. The store now features six state-of-the-art eye test rooms and two dedicated hearcare test rooms. John highlights the impact of one innovation, “OCT scans have been the most impactful technology over the years, truly transforming eyecare and significantly benefiting the local Cork community by allowing for earlier detection and management of eye conditions.”
Beyond providing exceptional healthcare, Specsavers Cork has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to the local community. Supporting local charities is a key part of the store’s culture. In 2024, the store proudly donated €3,000 to the Irish Cancer Society and the Simon Community, and they are committed to donating the same amount in 2025 to these vital charity services that are close to their hearts.
Looking ahead, John, Claire, and the store’s incredible team are excited to continue caring for their customers in Cork and the surrounding areas for many years to come.
